A Portrait of the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP
In the run up to Christmas Emma Selby of the Farnham Hub arranged for our local MP, Jeremy Hunt, to come along to a Friday morning meeting to have a chat about business issues. It was a lively talk and I did my usual and photographed proceedings for Emma, also supplying a few photos to the local paper.
A net result for me was that after a brief chat Jeremy arranged to come over to my studio for some photos. As it turned out we agreed on a package to photograph him and his family as well as some new updated profile photos for his social media and website. It's not everyday I get a Cabinet Minister in the studio, less so with his family so the outside world was left at the door.
The shoot was booked in the day before Christmas Eve so we served up some Mince Pies and Hot Chocolate, which probably acted as rocket fuel for the kids!It was a lively, fun and engaging family photohoot, which made the more serious business of profile photos all the more entertaining for me; in many of the profile photos Jeremy had one or two of his children hanging off his legs.
It also helped in that I wanted to capture something in the photos that was different to so many photos in the public eye. The main thing was trying to elicit an unguarded natural smile. This is the photo chosen for his website:I delivered a number of photos which have variations to feel. This ties to something I do say often to business people, that having a portfolio of photos for different media is useful. In a relatively short profile photo session the changes are not big, but background, tie and expression can create a small range.
This is far more serious and personally I think works well in Black & White. This last image removes the tie and goes with a grey background. This was the last commission before Christmas. We're now half way through January, if it's anything like last year the months will fly by so if you are thinking of getting your profile photos done, jump on it!
I made a booking yesterday with the comment that as soon as your photo is out there, it's working 24/7.
